It’s do or die for the Inverell Hawks and the Glen Innes Magpies in Sunday’s Group 19 Rugby League Preliminary Finals at Varley Oval with the winner to book a spot in next week’s Grand final against the Uralla Tigers
The Hawks are coming off a disappointing loss to Uralla and go into the match with some injury concerns, but 1st grade coach Jamie McCormack says Glen Innes will be a formidable opponent and won’t be taking them lightly adding past results mean nothing ahead of Sunday’s Grand Final qualifier.
Magpies coach Nick Ehsman says his young side have backed up well from their match against Tingha last weekend and is looking forward to throwing the ball around against the minor premiers.
He says the forecast sunny conditions will allow them to play a brand of football that will hopefully test the reigning premier.
Action kicks off at midday Sunday with the Ladies League Tag clash between the Inverell Hawkettes and Uralla, followed by the Reserve grade game between Uralla and Barraba and then the first-grade match at 2:15.
