The Uralla Tigers have inflicted the Inverell Hawks first defeat of the Group 19 Rugby League season after they posted a 36-22 win at Varley Oval on Saturday.
Uralla Tigers 1st grade coach Greg Ryan says they came to the game knowing they had to match the Hawks on defence and completion sets adding that’s why they got the result.
The win now puts both the Hawks and Tigers on 28 competition points, with only points differential separating them heading into the final three rounds.
Hawks 1st grade coach Jamie McCormack says the recent easy wins didn’t help with their preparations but had no excuses as Uralla were better on the day.
