Gwydir Shire Council Mayor Tiffany Galvin says moves to resolve the Telstra communications issues within the Shire are moving steadily but remains frustrated at the pace they’re moving at.
Mayor Galvin says the recent upgrade of the Warialda tower was welcomed and confirmed works on the Bingara tower will take place from this Tuesday over a period of 4 days next week but advised there will be outages of up to 10 hours per day whilst works are conducted.
Council delegates recently met with the Communications Minister’s Office who advised they would work with Council to find a resolution to the communication issues facing the Shire.
She says Council made it clear that Gwydir is ready to be more than a voice asking for better coverage adding they want to be part of the solution to the ongoing mobile and internet coverage challenges facing rural Australia.
