About 11.45pm on Saturday 18 July 2026, police were called to a fire station on Memorial Avenue, Bingara, following reports of a break and enter.
Officers attached to New England Police District were told about 9.30pm the same day, an unknown man broke into the building and stole a marked Rural Fire Service ute before driving away.
A crime scene has been established, and police commenced an investigation into the incident.
About 2pm the next day (Sunday 19 July 2026), police were called to Thunderbolt Way, near Grove Road, north of Bundarra, following reports of a single vehicle crash.
On arrival, police found that the stolen vehicle had rolled before crashing; however, no occupants were found at the scene.
The vehicle was seized to be forensically examined.
