Local riders have ventured to the Stirling’s Crossing endurance facility in Queensland to compete at the 60th anniversary of the Tom Quilty Gold Cup.
The event is the 160 kilometre national endurance championship which is held annually and hosting rights are rotated between states.
This year, three Gum Flat riders competed and were successful with Ruby Grace on Amarin Brindi finishing in third place in the junior division, her mum Ann Grace on Duray Indochine and Clare Fleming on Flemingo Dr Mysterio finished in fifth place in the lightweight division.
All three horses are owned by Clare and partner John Davidson.
Glen Innes local Judy Burton also completed the 160km successfully on Woodbourne Little Audrey.
Former Glen Innes boy and now Tenterfield vet Luke Annetts finished third in the heavyweight division on Churinga Jack Frost.
