Mercy Rule Applied as Hawks Run Rampant Against Rangs

by | Jul 6, 2026 | Sport

The Inverell Hawks continued their unbeaten start to the season on Saturday, belting the Moree Boomerangs 60-0 in Round 12 results of the Group 19 Rugby League competition.

A hattrick from Tyler Connors and a double to Ethan Anderson set the Hawks on their way to their 9th win of the season.

1st grade coach Jamie McCormack says the Boomerangs were short of players and the mercy rule enforced after 50 minutes of play but was happy to get the points, watch some impressive tries but most of all, escape without injuries.

In other results, Glen Innes Magpies coach Nick Ehman says their solid 34-16 win on the road over the Tingha Tigers at Bob Ward Oval was one of their better performances this season while Barraba outstayed the Warialda Wombats to win 34-24.

In Ladies league tag, nothing could separate Inverell and Moree ending 6-all at fulltime and Barraba were too good for Warialda, winning 36-0 while in the only Reserve grade game, Barraba were too strong for Warialda scoring a 30-8 win.
