The annual Kevin Pay Memorial Shield will be fought for tomorrow when the Inverell Saints tackle the Tamworth Swans at Varley Oval in Round 11 of the AFL Northwest competition.
Both teams have won 5 matches and lost 3, only separated by percentage, and will be keen for a win to keep in contact with competition leaders, the Gunnedah Bulldogs who sit a game clear from both the Swans and Saints.
The Saints currently hold the Kevin Pay Memorial Shield and Coach Hayden Chappel says it’s a wonderful tradition to honour a great man
Chappel is expecting a tough match saying in all their encounters this year, they’ve been tightly contested adding this will only intensify given the occasion.
Meantime, the Saints Women will also be out to make a day of it when they tackle the Swans and on their annual Ladies Day
Coach Chris Pay says they’ve had a great week on the training track and are looking forward to a big day tomorrow.
The other game sees the New England Nomads host the Tamworth Kangaroos at Bellevue Oval.
