Uralla Shire Swears in New Councillor

by | Jun 1, 2026 | Local Government

Uralla Shire’s newest councilor Stephen Wright has been officially sworn in following last week’s Council meeting, following his election to Ward A in a by-election held on 18 April.

A Uralla ratepayer for nearly a decade, Cr Wright lives in the community with his wife, Lindsey and comes to Council with a broad professional background spanning public and private administration, regulatory systems, dispute resolution, and advocacy.

Uralla Shire Council says he’s passionate about the role of local government in delivering services that are efficient, fair, and accountable to the community and is looking forward to working collaboratively with the community and fellow councillors to support Uralla’s future.

The by-election was called following the sad passing in February of Lone Petrov.
