Inverell High school’s Under 16’s basketball team have been crowned regional champions after taking out the NSW Regional tournament in Tamworth on Tuesday.
The team started strongly with a dominant 79–12 win over Peel High School before backing it up with an impressive 44–23 victory over Tamworth High School.
In the semi-final, they defeated Holy Trinity 46-24 to advance to the grand final.
In a hard-fought contest, with Oxley fielding a full squad of 12 players against an undermanned Inverell High squad, the boys stood firm to score a close 34-31 win to claim the regional tournament title.
