Inverell Shire Council Secures Funding for New Bus Shelters in South Inverell

by | May 7, 2026 | Local Government, Media Release, Transport

Inverell Shire Council is pleased to announce the successful application to the Country Passenger Transport Infrastructure Grants Scheme (CPTIGS) for the installation of two new bus shelters in South Inverell.

The new shelters will be located at 52 Wynne Street and 42 Eugene Street.

This investment will improve accessibility for passengers, increase safety and comfort, enhance the overall public transport experience, and support greater use of bus services within the community.

Mayor Cr Kate Dight said the funding is a welcome outcome for local residents.

“These new shelters will make a meaningful difference for passengers in South Inverell. Providing safer, more accessible and more comfortable waiting areas, encourages people to choose public transport and strengthens the liveability of our community. Council appreciates the support of the NSW Government through the CPTIGS program.”

The new bus shelters will be the same construction as other bus shelters that have been installed throughout the Shire to enhance the passenger experience.

Installation works will commence following procurement and scheduling.
