Community Supports Future of Aged Care Site

by | Apr 29, 2026 | Community, Local Government, Media Release

Community members attending a public hearing in Bundarra to discuss the future management of the Grace Munro Aged Care Centre generally supported Uralla Shire Council’s draft Plan of Management.

The hearing focused on the draft Plan and a proposal to categorise the land as General Community Use, recognising its long‑standing role in providing aged care and community health services. The session was independently chaired and well attended by local residents, Councillors and Council staff.

Community speakers were supportive of the proposal and raised no objections to the draft Plan of Management or the proposed land categorisation. Their feedback highlighted the importance of the site continuing to serve the health and wellbeing needs of the Bundarra community.

Some broader questions about operational and contractual matters were raised during the hearing. While these topics were outside the scope of the Plan of Management, Council has responded to them separately after the hearing.

Council extends its thanks to Brett McInnes, General Manager of Inverell Shire Council, for acting as Independent Chair and helping ensure the hearing was conducted in a fair and transparent manner.

The outcomes of the public hearing are now being considered by Council alongside the draft Plan of Management.
