With the current dry conditions forcing farmers to deal with the drought, the Northern Tablelands Local Land Services is highlighting the options available to landholders as well as announcing a visit from the NSW Drought Coordinator next month.
The Service’s Northern Tablelands General Manager Paul Hutchings says areas in western NSW as well as the northern parts of Inverell Shire including Ashford/Bonshaw area are seeing people struggle in terms of the seasonal conditions.
Mr Hutchings encouraged landholders to engage with their Local Land Service branch to seek information about various issues including animal biosecurity and welfare as well as free feed and water testing options.
He says the NSW Drought Coordinator will also be in the region next month who will talk to landholders and report back to the Minister for Agriculture Tara Moriarty about the conditions facing the region’s producers.
