Locals Compete for State and National Young Auctioneer Competitions

by | Apr 2, 2026 | Agriculture, Arts & Culture

The nation’s most promising young auctioneers are set to take centre stage today at the 2026 Australian Livestock & Property Agents Association National and New South Wales Young Auctioneers Competitions at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Inverell auctioneer Darcy Brennan from Lehman Stock & Property is a finalist in the National Auctioneers competition while former local Will McLachlan and Guyra’s Myles Williams are finalists in the State competition.

ALPA CEO Peter Baldwin says the ALPA Young Auctioneers Competitions play a critical role in developing the next generation of industry leaders as these events not only showcase exceptional talent but also ensure the skills and traditions of auctioneering continue to evolve and thrive.

At a state level, New South Wales’ top young auctioneers will battle it out for the John Weekes Memorial Shield while the finalist in the National competition will compete for the coveted Prosser Cup and a trip to Calgary in Canada.

Mr Baldwin says it wouldn’t be normal not to have an Inverell auctioneer in the competition with Tim Cahill, Will Clarridge, Robbie Block and Justin Oakenfull all starring in previous years.
