by | Mar 30, 2026 | Police News

A teenage boy faced court on Saturday (26 March 2026) charged with allegedly possessing extremist material following an investigation in the State’s west.

In December 2025, officers attached to New England Police District commenced an investigation after receiving information a teenager was allegedly accessing extremist material online.

On Friday (27 March 2026) officers, including from the Moree Crime Prevention Unit, General Duties, and Criminal Investigation Unit, executed a commonwealth warrant at a home in Moree.

During the search, police allegedly seized a mobile phone, a ballistic-style vest, and several notebooks.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested and taken to Moree Police Station where he was charged with use carriage service-possess violent extremist material and possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.

He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court on Saturday (28 March 2026).

The community should be reassured that there is no ongoing threat.
