Australia Well Prepared to Tackle Fuel Crisis: Bowen

by | Mar 11, 2026 | Politics

Energy Minister Chris Bowen says Australia is well prepared to tackle the current global fuel crisis.

In a Facebook post, Mr Bowen says supply of diesel and petrol continues to arrive in Australia as expected and the back-up reserves remain in place.

Minister Bowen says he knows Australians are concerned and that a huge increase in demand for diesel has seen shortages in regional Australia adding the government has been in constant contact with refiners and will be bringing together fuel users and suppliers for a fuel supply roundtable to ensure all the key players are working together.

He says this international crisis is creating uncertainty right around the world, but stressed Australia is well prepared, with their strategic reserve held under his government held in Australia, not in Texas like it was under opposition Leader Angus Taylor.
