A 5-wicket haul from Jackson Binnie has guided Staggy Creek into the Inverell Cricket competition Grand final after an 75 run victory over Glen Innes at Varley Oval on Saturday.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Staggy crawled to 8/106 on a bowler friendly wicket with Troy Brabant top scoring with 36.
Glen Innes bowlers struggled through the innings bowling 44 wides which would prove to be costly.
In reply, Binnie, along with Mick Kenny and Rohan Guest, made good use of the conditions to rip apart the Glen Innes batting line-up to dismiss the visitors for 31.
In the Elimination final, Campbell and Freebairn Rebels advanced to the Preliminary Final following a close two wicket win over Square and Compass at McCosker 2.
Set 132 for victory, the Rebels had a good start before a top order collapse saw them lose 5/25 before Dave Mudaliar and Nathan Marsh steadied the ship to reach the target in the 30th over.
Glen Innes will now take on Campbell & Freebairn in the Preliminary Final this Saturday for the right to play Staggy Creek in the Grand Final.
