Inverell Shire Council has resolved to support the Inverell Polocrosse Club’s 2026 Swan Cup, following receipt of a formal request for assistance from Club President, Mr Alex Wrobel.
The Swan Cup will be held from Friday 27 March to Sunday 29 March 2026 and is expected to attract strong participation from competitors and horse buyers across Australia.
The Swan Cup is a combined polocrosse horse sale and competition, drawing enthusiasts from across the country to compete, enter horses for sale, or purchase high‑quality stock.
The Inverell Polocrosse Club has reported its highest‑ever number of sale horse nominations, with more than 50 horses entered and strong competition nominations being received.
Council has resolved to support the event through the provision of a water truck and driver for the duration of the event and grading of Eddie Park Lane and the entrance to the playing complex, should it be required following Council inspection of the surface.
The estimated cost of providing water carting services is $2,830 (ex GST), while grading works, if required are estimated at $4,050 (ex GST).
Mayor Kate Dight stated, “The Swan Cup continues to be a significant sporting and economic event for the Inverell region, attracting competitors, families and buyers who contribute to local accommodation, hospitality and retail sectors. Council’s support helps ensure the event remains a highlight on the national polocrosse calendar and continues to bring strong economic and community benefits to the Inverell district.”
