Gwydir Shire Council will have a countback election to fill a vacancy on Council following the resignation of Cr Marilyn Dixon due to illness.
A countback uses the ballot papers from the last Council election to determine the next elected councillor, meaning only candidates who nominated at the last election but were not elected are eligible to participate.
Following the 2024 Local Government elections, Stuart Dick, Ravi Gill, Lyndon Mulligan, Allan Reddan, and Sally Anne Robinson missed out on a spot on the current Council.
The countback election will be run entirely by the NSW Electoral Commission with the result to be declared on 17 March.
