Gwydir and Uralla Shire have been declared disaster zones by the NSW government after last November’s storms with impacted residents and businesses encouraged to apply for assistance.
Huge storms ripped through the Gwydir Shire and Uralla on 26 November destroying property and wreaking havoc and subsequently the NSW Government has declared both council areas as natural disaster zones and assistance is available.
Individual assistance incudes grants for low income, uninsured residents to replace lost essential household items to maintain basic standard of living, or undertake essential structural repairs to homes damaged by the disaster event, for primary producers and small businesses, concessional loans up to $130,000 are available and transport subsidies up to $15,000, counter disaster operations and restoration of essential public assets.
