Northern Tablelands MP Brendan Moylan believes a new drone trial at Moree Police station to target crime could be rolled out over regional NSW, if successful.
The 6-month trial, an Australian first, will incorporate two drones based on the roof of the station, operated by PolAir aviators based in Sydney who will direct drones to crime hot spots when notified by local police.
Mr Moylan says the drone capabilities include thermal imaging, video livestreaming and tracking to assist police in locating offenders quickly.
He hopes the drones will assist police in reducing crime in the town.
