A man has faced court after the body of a man was located in Armidale last month.
Emergency services were called to a home on Markham Street on Monday 13 October following reports of a concern for welfare and upon arrival, police located the body of a 78-year-old man.
A 25-year-old man – who lived at the home – was taken to a hospital for further assessment.
A crime scene was established and officers attached to New England Police District, with the assistance of the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, commenced an investigation under Strike Force Kastelic.
Following inquiries, strike force detectives arrested the 25-year-old man in Armidale yesterday and charged him with murder.
He fronted court yesterday and was refused bail to appear at Armidale Local Court in January.
