| The Nationals have a new energy and climate plan. It is designed to be cheaper, better, and fairer for all Australians. We will not be bound by a Net Zero commitment. Our plan puts Australians first. We want to lower electricity bills, protect jobs, and still cut emissions. We believe Labor’s Net Zero plan is too expensive and not working. Families are paying more, and jobs are being lost. Forests and farms are being destroyed. |
| Labor’s plan has made electricity prices go up by 39% and gas by 46%. Wages have dropped, and 7,000 factory jobs are gone. We will do our fair share to cut global emissions, but not more than other countries. If we keep following Labor’s path, Australians will suffer more. The Nationals have adopted a Cheaper, Better, Fairer energy and climate plan: Our plan is cheaper because we will lower energy prices first, use all of our resources and abandon the commitment to net zero. All carbon taxes and restrictions should be removed. Our plan is better because we will protect our local environment through local community action such as waterway protection, land restoration and soil carbon. We will ensure that our national security is not compromised. Our plan is fairer because we will reduce emissions in line with comparable nations, not ahead of them. We will ensure that costs are distributed fairly, not concentrated on regional Australia. Australia has already cut more emissions than many rich countries. We will keep cutting emissions in a smart way. Everyone will share the responsibility. We will support lower emissions with a new Emissions Reduction Fund. We will support cheaper power by using all energy types and ending the ban on nuclear energy. Labor’s plan failed. Ours is cheaper, better, and fairer.
