Inverell Shire Adopts IPART’s Rate Peg

by | Oct 30, 2025 | Local Government | 0 comments

The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal has set a rate peg for Inverell Shire Council’s for 2026/2027 of 3.2%.

The rate peg represents the maximum percentage amount by which a Council may increase its general income.

At last weeks monthly Council Meeting, Inverell Shire Councillors adopted IPART’s rate peg recommendation which automatically increases Council’s general income each year to keep pace with the estimated change in the costs of providing their current services and service levels to their community.

Inverell Shire Mayor Kate Dight says they need to take the rate peg to continue to remain financially sound and continue to service the community.
