Besides the action on the pitch in Round 2 of the Inverell Cricket Association competition on Saturday, all teams gathered for a minute’s silence in memory of inaugural President of Inverell Junior Cricket Bob Bensley OAM who was a stalwart of Inverell cricket and played with the Nullamanna Cricket Club.
On the pitch, Liam Spalding’s 4/30 and half centuries to Matt Rose and Jarrod White led square and Compass to a 10 wicket win over Delungra at McCosker 2.
Delungra were bowled out for 127 and in reply, Square and Compass reached the target in the 16th over.
Reigning premiers, Staggy Creek had a 7 wicket win over Campbell & Freebairn Rebels at McCosker 2 with the Rebels posting 9/173.
Brendan Reynolds hit 101 which included eleven 4’s and five 6’s while Staggy’s Mick Kenny claimed 4/17 and was also key in the run chase with a hard-hitting knock of 69 which included six 4’s and six 6’s in a fine all-round performance.
