National Police Remembrance Day

by | Sep 29, 2025 | Police News | 0 comments

Today is National Police Remembrance Day—a day to honour and remember police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

The community is being invited to a service at St Augustine’s Anglican Church in Inverell at 10am with Inverell Police Inspector Blake Keating being the Master of Ceremonies

Inspector Keating says the day will allow the community to join with families, friends, and colleagues to reflect on the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of those who have served our community.

During the commemoration, Inspector Keating says they will make special mention of two tragic events that claimed the life of officers who were killed in cold blood in the most heinous of circumstances along with acknowledging all police who have passed on or off duty during the past year.

The two incidents that will be remembered includes the murder of Constable David Carty who was stabbed and stomped on by a group of men in 1997 as well as the 1995 Crescent Head Police Shooting which claimed the lives of Senior Constables Peter Addison and Robert Spears who were ambushed and killed while responding to a domestic violence call.
