The Inverell Saints had mixed results on Saturday, claiming one and losing one in AFL Northwest Grand finals matches played at Varley Oval on Saturday.
The Saints Women made it back-to-back premierships with a hard fought 10 point win over the Gunnedah Poochettes.
The Saints came out of the blocks and never gave the Poochettes an opportunity to score points in the 3.6.24 to 2.2.14 win.
Saints winger Sarah Drew was named player of the match.
Unfortunately, the Saints Men couldn’t clean sweep the premierships, going down to a more committed and skilled Tamworth Swans outfit, 8.8.56 to 5.5.35.
Saints Coach Matt Harrison was bitterly disappointed with his team’s effort saying the Swans deserved the win and were clearly the better team on the day.
