by | Sep 8, 2025 | Sport | 0 comments

The Quirindi Lions have broken a 33-year drought to claim the Central North Rugby Premiership in Moree on Saturday.

In a high scoring affair, the Lions got the jump on the Moree Weebolla Bulls to lead at half time 38-15 to eventually run out winners 57-36 after dominating for most of the match.

It’s Quirindi’s first premiership since 1992 when they also beat Moree in the Grand Final.

Moree did taste premiership success in second grade winning 44-29 over Pirates as well as in third grade, beating Pirates 21-17 while Narrabri Blue Boars claimed the Women’s 10’s title, defeating Pirates 35-26
