Saints Claim AFL Northwest Minor Premierships

by | Sep 1, 2025 | Sport | 0 comments

The Inverell Saints have finished minor premiers in both the Men’s and Ladies’ competitions after convincing wins against the Tamworth Swans on Saturday and have secured a home AFL Northwest major semi-final this Saturday.

In chilly conditions at No1 oval, the women started slow but were dominant in the end with their 11.16.82 to 1.0.6 victory with Kayla Simms dangerous up forward booting 4 goals.

The Saints Men found it a little more challenging against the Swans, trailing by 4 points at ¾ time before powering away with the aid of the wind in the final term to score a 12.13.85 to 10.6.66 victory with Brady Mather proving the difference with 6 goals in a dominant performance.

Meantime the U12 and U14s have secured premierships yesterday against the Tamworth/Gunnedah outfits at Cameron park.

The U12s needed extra time to claim the first premiership with a 5.8.38 to 5.5.35 win while the U14s were dominant in the premiership win downing the visitors 14.9.93 to 3.5.23.

Next week the Saints hosts the Tamworth Swans in the men’s major semi while the Women tackle the arch rival the Gunnedah Poochettes in the grand final qualifier with the winner to claiming hosting rights for the 2025 AFL Northwest Grand Final.
