Organisers of the annual Motormania event, scheduled for Sunday 17th of August, have decided to cancel this year’s event.
This year’s car show and markets, to be staged this year at the Inverell racecourse, was cancelled following a meeting of the Sapphire City Motorsports Club on Wednesday night.
Duane O’Brien, who was also bestowed Club life membership at the meeting, says after receiving information from racecourse curators and an inspection of the facilities, members voted to cancel the event due to the wet conditions that a currently prevailing at the course.
Mr O’Brien says having over 300 vehicles on the grounds would have caused considerable damage to the facilities.
He says the markets will now still go ahead at Campbell Park on the 17th of August, adding the Club will still go ahead and make donations to local charities at a later date.
