$300,000 Secured to Overhaul High School Sports Facilities

by | Apr 23, 2026 | Media Release, Politics

Macintyre High School’s outdoor multipurpose sports courts are set for an overhaul with Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan announcing a $300,000 grant for their redevelopment.

The grant was secured through the NSW Government’s Infrastructure Grants Program – Clubgrants Category 3 Fund.

Mr Moylan said the courts are a popular spot for students, teachers and the wider Inverell community to use for their outdoor activities and the coming re-build is a much needed one.

“The outdoor sports courts at Macintyre High School are well-used by people within the school community as well as members of the public using the facilities on weekends,” he said.

“Over time, the courts have become run down and they are in desperate need of an overhaul which was identified by the school’s P&C a few years ago.

“The $300,000 grant will go towards the redevelopment of the courts with the school contributing the balance so everyone can enjoy the space.

“Congratulations to the Macintyre High School P&C and Ladybug Projects Inverell for securing this important funding.”

Macintyre High School P&C’s treasurer and school business manager Emma Ting said the project has been on the radar of the committee for some time and was excited to hear the project has received the funding it needs to go ahead.

“This court upgrade means a lot to our students and school community who use the courts daily,” she said.

The court upgrade at Macintyre High School is far more than just a physical improvement; it means lasting positive impacts in education, student wellbeing, and community engagement.

“It will provide our students and staff with a high-quality, safe, and modern learning environment. Beyond benefiting our current school community, these improvements create shared spaces that are sure to strengthen ties with our local network whilst supporting social connection, inclusivity, and shared wellbeing for years to come.

“I would like to thank and acknowledge Christy and Fiona of Ladybug Projects for their experience and support in applying for this grant.”
