$250,000 for Uralla’s Growth & Development

Planning for growth and development in the Uralla area has received a boost with Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan welcoming funding from Round 3 of the NSW Regional Housing Strategic Planning Fund.

$250,000 has been secured from the State Government to help plan for future housing in the community.

Mr Moylan said the funding will allow USC to tick all the boxes when planning for growth.

“The $250,000 from NSW Regional Housing Strategic Planning Fund will ensure Uralla Shire Council can progress their Growth Management Strategy, review the Local Environment Plan, update planning proposals, update biodiversity and heritage studies, and prepare plans for water and sewerage,” he said.

“This means council can plan for what the community needs; they can make sure the right studies are done, the right land is available and any new housing will be well-located and supported with adequate infrastructure.

“The right planning will ensure families can stay living locally and close to the community they are familiar with.”

Uralla Shire mayor Robert Bell said the funding will help Uralla continue to be a great place to live for years to come.

“This funding will allow council to bring our planning framework up to date and ensure Uralla is well placed to respond to the changes shaping our region,” he said.

“From housing pressures to renewable energy development, we’re planning for growth in a way that protects what our community values most – our landscapes, our heritage, and our local character.

“This grant gives us the chance to follow through on our new housing strategy – with a plan for our rural villages, a structure plan to guide Uralla’s growth, and an update to our planning rules so they reflect the community’s vision.”
