Uralla Shire Council has secured funding through the NSW Return and Earn Bin Basket Program to install 20 recycling bin baskets on public bins along Bridge Street and in Alma Park. These baskets will provide a convenient place to leave eligible drink containers, helping keep valuable recyclables out of landfill.
The baskets have been delivered and Council is currently undertaking pre-installation audits, with installation expected to begin next month.
By making it easier to separate eligible 10-cent containers from general waste, the initiative will help reduce litter, improve recycling rates and support a cleaner, more sustainable Uralla.
If the initiative is successful, Council may apply for additional funding to expand the program to other high-use locations across the Shire.
